The KURODA Story
I am attracted to the environment which allows you to do what you want to do and the job which makes you witness the advancement of technology.
I really feel the importance of communication to do my job.
I am involved in designing machine tools called surface grinding machines. We carefully make design to realize specifications that our clients request. After completion of machines, we need to cooperate with sales frequently and have communication with our clients to ensure that there are no discrepancies with the specifications. Also, we need to check if the design is not too difficult to assemble on site. In order to check it, we sometimes visit the plants to discuss with the assemblers and listen to their advices. Though it is required to have design knowledge to do this job of course, I think the most important things are to reconfirm the design we make from various perspectives, and have communication with my boss and members in other departments.
It is when we can overcome problems and clients thank us.
It is when clients thank us for the machines we have delivered. Also, it is when I respond to complaints from clients attentively and they give me words of reputation. I am much more delighted when they become repeat clients.
In fact, we once found a problem with machining in our design when we prepared delivering to a client. It was tough but we continued experiments again and again. Finally, we had a good result and were able to deliver the product successfully to the client.
I remember that the client said to us "you have dealt with the problem very enthusiastically so far. we have never known the manufacturer that would go this far. we really thank the support from all members in Kuroda." After that, the client decided to use our machines repeatedly and it made me feel motivated.
Every day, I need to learn new things. But after overcoming them, I really feel my growth.
The difficult thing is that I need to learn continuously to achieve my job. I had never experienced designing until I started to work in KURODA. I really feel the necessity to gain knowledge that I did not learn. Though my primary job is design, new knowledge and skills are required every time I interact with a different client. Cooperation with other departments is also required. Whenever I need new knowledge, I search them, ask my senior colleagues and boss, and sometimes members on site give me advices. So, I feel my growth when I finish a job. As I work every day, I often face new challenges. But, I can feel at ease working because my senior colleagues kindly support me.
KURODA fit my expectations in job hunting. The friendly employees appealed to me.
Because it fit my expectations in job hunting. I liked the atmosphere of the employees and the workplace, too. I visited the company at several times before joining it. Those who showed me the company around explained me very precisely and talked to me friendly. I also remember how cheerfully all the employees in the factories greeted me. It gave me a very good impression. When I met the employees, I firstly felt it would be nice to work with such cheerful members. I entered KURODA because everyone I met seemed to enjoy working in the close atmosphere.
Assertiveness for conveying your opinions and questions is important
I would like to work with those who can convey their thoughts, opinions and questions frankly. As I said in the beginning, many senior colleagues would teach you gently when you do not understand something. Also, many listen to the younger colleagues' opinions attentively. So, you can get more opportunities to grow if you have the assertiveness to convey your opinions and questions. It would be nice to have such coworkers in the workplace who can share and enhance each other's opinions, sometimes even joking.
